The Law of Karma and World Peace

THE LAW OF KARMA AND WORLD PEACE

 BY:  RASIK S SANGHVI

It is strange but seems true that a Dharmic (Indian religions=higher consciousness) principle has the key in political arena i.e world peace among various nationalities and states. The law of Karma as expounded in Gita is more complex and complete than even theory of relativity. The complexity of Karma is emphasized by no other than Sri Krishna when he says to understand Karma properly one should know Akarma and also Vikarma(Gita: Adhyay 4, slok 17 ).

How is a dharmic principle related to all time politics and particularly present day life and death political turmoils? The law of Karma states about actions and invariable reactions, consequences of one's actions sooner or later but always timely, and in popular

terms " as you sow so you reap" sayings. If this principle is sipped in the blood, veins and system it is hard to be first aggressor, unjust and violent. This sipped principle also makes the imbibed people indestructible as proved by the only surviving original civilization (Indian) in the world despite losing many political and military battles and still always rising like phoenix and becoming stronger for world peace. If subjected to injustice, aggression and domination karmic imbibed nations react innovatively (founders of Gherila strategy), more affectively (non cooperation, Satyagraha (tool of truthful awareness) etc. and ultimately defeat the first aggressors.  Also, there are no continuous domination wars, colonialism and subduing of other religions, nations and economic exploitations of other people, naturally, among the different Dharma follower nations unlike as among the controlled religions nations (Only one way to reach God). If there are any wars between Dharmic followers for territory or domination it is because of atheist or non dharmic leadership in those nations which has happened in last century. But it is always half hearted and inconclusive or aborted because of deep down belief in law of karma. In Dharmic societies half brute full apes do not dare to publish or paint nude divines for their pervert mohas. The divine consequences attach Mohniya and Vedniya karma thousands of times to them.

The belief in law of karma makes people averse to first aggression, injustice and domination by terrorism, war or colonialism. There is no God given right to rule infidels, or believers of other religions, right over weaker animals or right to go to heaven following only one method or way. The law of karma naturally leads to anekantvaad (different paths to reach truth)- another pillar of world peace and truly just society. The third important pillar of world peace is non violence extended to animals-vegetarianism.  The world is ready to move to next phase of civilization and understanding that to cultivate compassion -an important ingredient of advanced just society, sooner or later, the world will have to give right of survival to all the animals. The fourth pillar would be abolition of Nam Karma- labelism of religions. Imagine the world where are there are no Hindus, no Christians, no Muslims, no Buddhists, no Jains, no Sikhs, no Jews but still thriving Jesus Christ, Krishna, Rama, Mahavira, Buddha, Moses, Prophet Mohammed, Aurobindo, Guru Nanak, Swami Vivekananda, Sankara etc.

When the logical, divine and scientific principle of  Karma is absorbed  in the consciousness of the population and becomes a cultural trait, the people imbibing it

Becomes stronger and more effective. Unlike as misunderstood by some, belief in Karma

does not mean dependence on fate and not doing anything. It is just the opposite. Kartvya karma, meaning duty and hard work, without attachment or too much excitement for results, precedes fear of previous karma or fear of consequences of mistaken bad karma because the results are domain of higher consciousness. That is why it is necessary to understand, akarma, vikarma as well as karma. In short if one is doing his duty without attachment and belief in law of karma, he is less likely to be distracted by fear of consequences which are there any way without knowledge and thus he is more stronger and effective.
